Radakovic: Elections harm the dialogue and reconciliation process in the north

Dusan Radakovic from the Advocacy Center for Democratic Culture said that now is not the right time to hold elections in the north of Kosovo, and added that 95% of Serbs would boycott the elections, RTS reported.

Radakovic emphasized that he had participated in election monitoring through the civil sector in the past. He said that this time they are working in a minimal capacity, that only he and Albanians were registered for security reasons, and that there would be a mobile team on the day of the elections.

Organizations that monitored the elections in the previous cycle were rejected from monitoring the elections this time.

"With them, everything that is possible is impossible, and what is impossible is possible; there are no concrete reasons why they reject someone. Elections only harm the entire dialogue and reconciliation process in the north. Pristina is trying to organize the elections by force to show democracy and that they have conquered the territory. I think this process is everything but an election. Everything is in containers here, and the special police guard them," Radakovic said.

Speaking about the days after the elections and the new mayors, Radakovic said they would have no integrity.

"Ninety-five percent of people do not support the election of such mayors. According to the laws of so-called Kosovo, one man's vote is enough, but what integrity are we talking about? People who live in Pristina and are candidates have not been here for 15 years," Radakovic said.
