Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, stated, during today's conversation with the head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, Michael Davenport, that the elections that would be held on Sunday in the north of Kosovo were undemocratic and anti-Serb, and that they aimed to cancel the existence of the absolute majority of the Serbs in the north of Kosovo and to complete the occupation of the north.

Petkovic discussed with Davenport today the current security situation in Kosovo, with special reference to the illegal, illegitimate, and undemocratic elections that Pristina planned to hold on Sunday in four municipalities in the north of Kosovo, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija announced.

Petkovic pointed out that the Serbs would be and remain peaceful, and that the greatest responsibility in Pristina's effort to expel the Serbs in the north of the province by all possible means lay with the international community, which supported this and such elections and which should explain how Serb-majority municipalities were run by Albanians, who made up about two percent of the population in the north of Kosovo.

The interlocutors exchanged opinions on the current political and security situation in Kosovo, where the director of the Government Office pointed out that, although the concrete steps regarding the formation of the Security Council, agreed upon at the last meeting in Brussels, were encouraging, the fact that Pristina continued to make unilateral and illegal moves daily was disturbing, promoted naked violence against the Serbs and threatened to abolish all their human, civil and political rights.

The recent attack on the taxi driver Milan Jovanovic was proof that Pristina wanted incidents and is provoking a new crisis in every way, Petkovic reminded, adding that Jovanovic had been wounded by a member of the Kosovo Police, and Pristina had tried in every way to cover it up.

Petkovic also informed the interlocutor about the recent meeting in Brussels, held as part of the technical dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, stressing that it was important that the most concrete steps for the formation of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities had been discussed and that the text of the Declaration on Missing Persons had been agreed upon.

The Director of the Government Office noted the importance of the OSCE Mission's actions in the area of protecting the rights of the Serbs and other non-Albanian communities in Kosovo and establishing the rule of law and a safe environment for all citizens, in accordance with its mandate and status neutrality.

He also stated that he expected the Mission to be publicly and unequivocally defined according to the aforementioned events and the daily terrorizing of the Serbs.
