Radojevic: Bus with pilgrims stoned in South Mitrovica
Milan Radojevic, the Serb List candidate for mayor of North Mitrovica, condemned the attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in the southern part of Mitrovica, who were on their way to visit the Church of Saint Sava in that part of the city. He emphasized that this was a direct consequence of the anti-Serb campaign of the outgoing regime in Pristina.
“Today, in the southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica, a bus with pilgrims was stoned while they were visiting monasteries on the occasion of a major Orthodox holiday and decided to visit the Church of Saint Sava in the southern part of the city. Unfortunately, the race to cause more harm to Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija continues, which is a direct consequence of the anti-Serb campaign of the outgoing regime in Pristina,” Radojevic stated in a Facebook post.
He stressed that today’s incident was yet another proof of the pressures and attacks faced by the Serbs.
“The closing of institutions, the seizure of property, the arrest of minors for wearing T-shirts—these are just part of the harsh daily reality that Serbs are living in Kosovo and Metohija. It is scandalous that this attack happened in the presence of the Kosovo police, who failed to prevent it. The fact that the attacker was arrested is not enough—it is necessary for him to be punished, because that is the only way to prevent similar attacks in the future,” he underlined.
Radojevic assessed that as the end of the regime in Pristina approaches, the pressure and terror against the Serbs only increase, while the international community, as he put it, remains a silent witness to these events.
“We expect an urgent reaction from KFOR, EULEX, and other international actors, and protection of the rights to freedom of movement, speech, and religion. We demand the protection of the right to life,” Radojevic concluded.
