Former mayor of North Mitrovica, Milan Radojevic, said that the boycott of elections in the north by Serbs would be a form of democratic resistance and added that it was not excluded that Pristina would blame Serbs through provocations, RTS reports.

Radojevic said in an interview with RTS that the situation was getting worse by the day.

He stated that Serbs would massively boycott the elections scheduled for Sunday.

"As far as we are concerned, they do not exist for us, but we do not exclude the possibility that Pristina will try some provocations, as it has done before, to blame Serbs," Radojevic emphasized.

As he stated, the boycott is a democratic act and a form of democratic resistance.

"We have tried, and we constantly repeat, in the past ten years, we have tried everything, by participating in elections, in institutions, in police, in justice, at the local level, we tried to fight for our rights through institutions and through the system. Unfortunately, in these ten years, we have not succeeded in that," Radojevic emphasized.

He said that the voice of the people was clear – participating in such institutions leads to nothing.

Radojevic is disappointed with the statements of representatives of the international community, who, he notes, support holding such elections and have announced that they will recognize the results.

"I do not know if there is anywhere in Europe where elections are held in this way, in containers guarded by special forces armed with long guns," Radojevic points out.

However, he also noticed different statements from them.

"Ambassador Hil of the United States in Belgrade stated that they were in favor of postponing the elections, while on the other hand, we hear from Mr. Escobar that he will recognize the election results, whatever they may be," Radojevic said.

He added that the message of the Serbs was clear.

"We want to stay on our own, to be part of the system, but after the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities and the withdrawal of all special forces, which are numerous in northern Kosovo," Radojevic concluded.
