A member of the Crisis Staff, Milan Radojevic, said that the owners of shops, whose windows had been smashed, last night in Bosnjacka Mahala in North Mitrovica, had tried to stop the vandals, who had fired cannon at them and fled in the direction of South Mitrovica.

Radojevic pointed out that the latest moves by Kosovo Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, did not contribute to stability in the north of Kosovo.

"Kosovska Mitrovica is the only multi-ethnic city in Kosovo and Metohija, and we all invested a lot of effort and energy to preserve that multi-ethnicity. However, Kurti's latest actions and the sending of policemen to the north of Kosovo do not contribute to stability, and the case that happened last night is an example of that. Because the policemen, although they were 10 meters from the shop, did not react, they silently observed the people who left in the direction of the southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica," Radojevic said.

He said that the Serbs in Kosovo were not a threat to anyone and called on everyone to exercise restraint.

"We call on the citizens of Kosovska Mitrovica, but also all the Serbs from the north of Kosovo, to peace, restraint; not to fall for provocations and to peacefully and dignifiedly, as we have always done, defend our right to freedom and to stay in these areas," Radojevic added.
