Aleksandar Rapajic, Program Director of the NGO Center for Advocacy of Democratic Culture from North Mitrovica, told Kosovo Online that he is not aware of any option under which MPs could be criminally prosecuted if the Assembly is not constituted within the deadline set by the Constitutional Court, but he believes that in such a case, MPs will automatically lose their mandates.

"Then new elections will have to be held, most likely to be called by the President," Rapajic stated.

He noted that the current situation is very strange and that an election campaign for the upcoming elections has already begun.

"We can see that political parties have no desire to solve the problem. They have already entered campaign mode, attacking the other side and floating trial balloons to see how the public reacts. I think the most logical option is not to have two elections within a few months, but to combine the new elections with the local ones. Legally, this could be done by postponing the parliamentary elections to the date set for local elections, but with the deadlines set by the Constitutional Court, that will be very complicated to achieve," Rapajic said.
