Self-Determination MP calls for life imprisonment for Thaçi: “He will meet the same fate as Naim Murseli”
A member of the Self-Determination, Fatos Geci, stated in the Assembly of Kosovo that one of the former KLA leaders, Hashim Thaçi, would face the same fate as Naim Murseli, who was today sentenced in Pristina to life imprisonment for the murder of his ex-wife.
Specifically, in response to remarks by Arian Tahiri of the Democratic Party of Kosovo during the parliamentary session—that members of the ruling party had begun to tremble because they sensed Thaçi’s return—Geci, welcoming the life sentence handed to Murseli for the murder of his former spouse, said that Thaçi would meet the same fate, Koha reported.
“I wish to welcome the court’s decision to sentence Naim Murselji, and those of you who hope that your supreme leader will be released—he will meet the same fate,” Geci said.
Following these remarks, he was cautioned by the Speaker of Parliament, Albulena Haxhiu.
A reaction also came from Blerta Deliu-Kodra, who stated that such language must not be tolerated.
“This is not the Parliament of Serbia, but of Kosovo. We must act responsibly in the statements we make. Such language must not be tolerated,” Deliu-Kodra said.
The Basic Court in Pristina today sentenced, in addition to Murseli, Granit Plava to life imprisonment for the murder of Liridona Ademaj, while Kushtrim Kokalla was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
