Serb List: The arrest of Sofronijevic continues the terror against the Serbian people

The Serb List has stated that today's arrest of Srecko Sofronijevic by Kurti's police is a continuation of the terror against the Serbian people, the arrested individual, and his family. They called on international representatives to react and prevent the oppression of Serbian citizens. According to their statement, Sofronijevic was arrested at the Brnjak administrative crossing while traveling to central Serbia with his wife.

"We remind you that Sofronijevic was shot in the back and severely wounded by Kurti's police on October 13, 2021, in the immediate vicinity of his family home while trying to shield and protect a child from the gunfire of Kurti's special forces. The accusation of attacking the constitutional order is, we remind you, part of Albin Kurti's plan to expel all prominent Serbs from the north of Kosovo and Metohija. More than 80 people, including some doctors, businessmen, political representatives of the Serbian people, directors of public institutions and organizations, are on the arrest list for the attack on the constitutional order," the Serb List emphasizes.

They highlight the paradox that Sofronijevic was arrested instead of the one who shot at him in October 2021.

"To make the paradox greater, instead of today the family of Srecko Sofronijevic and he watching the arrest of the person who almost killed Sofronijevic in October 2021, today they are watching the unjustified arrest of Mr. Sofronijevic for one of the most serious criminal offenses. We wonder if this arrest is a continuation of the repression of the Albin Kurti regime through unfounded and arbitrary arrests that we have seen for months and whether the practice of unfounded arrests is a standard recommended by Pristina for membership in any international organization, especially the Council of Europe. Where else in Europe are people arrested because of their ethnic affiliation?" they ask.

The Serb List calls on international representatives, primarily the Quint countries, as well as EULEX, the European Union, and UNMIK, to urgently react and prevent the oppression of Sofronijevic and Serbian citizens, and to ensure his release and right, as they say, "to defend himself from false accusations while at liberty."
