The Serb List stated today in a press release that the attack on Serbian children in Laplje Selo was the result of years of repression and anti-Serb policies by the regime of Albin Kurti, who himself did everything to oppress the Serbs and drive them out of Kosovo.

"There is not a single day that the Serbs do not experience some form of violence and harassment in Kosovo and Metohija," the Serb List emphasizes, adding that the incident last night, outside the High School Center in Laplje Selo, near Gracanica, when a group of Serbian youth men was intercepted by two Albanians threatening them with cold weapons, is just the latest in a series.

They note that only by sheer luck and presence of mind of the two Serbian young men, no one was injured in the attack.

However, they warn that the Serbs in the central Kosovo area are concerned about this event, especially because it involves children.

"We are more than certain that this attack is the result of the now years-long repression and anti-Serb policies of the regime of Albin Kurti in Pristina, who himself does everything to oppress the Serbs and drive them out of these areas," the Serb List states.

They also point out that considering the state of society, the key role in protecting the Serbs and ensuring security lies in the hands of the international community and its representatives, who are obligated to guarantee peace and security for all citizens.

"There is no room for talk of a second or third level of response when it is more than clear that Kosovo institutions are not interested in doing their job and protecting the rights of the Serbs. Furthermore, they are often a part of the pressure on our citizens, and their members are perpetrators of incidents in which our compatriots south and north of the Ibar River suffer. Let us remember that the unprovoked attack and shooting of Milos and Stefan Stojanovic are still without those responsible behind bars," the Serb List's statement concludes.
