The Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated that last night's cowardly attack, threats, and ethnic-based provocations against five Serbian young men in Laplje Selo near Gracanica, by two Albanians were a direct consequence of the hate policy generated daily by Pristina.

"The Serbian youth became the target of extremists, and they were fortunate not to be injured in the incident, in which knives were drawn against them by Albanians with an apparent intention to use them," the Office for Kosovo and Metohija warned in a statement.

They emphasize that the incident, which occurred in front of the High School Center, has caused enormous concern and fear in the Serbian community living in Gracanica and central Kosovo and Metohija because parents rightly wonder how they can allow their children to go out unaccompanied.

The Office for Kosovo and Metohija also points out that Serbian children are increasingly becoming targets of extremist Albanians and are deprived of the right to a peaceful and carefree childhood simply because they bear Serbian names and surnames.

"To this chauvinistic, extremist policy of Pristina, which escalates every day and generates dangerous ethnic incidents against everything Serbian, the international community must put a stop, with a clear condemnation and reaction to last night's attack," the statement said.

The Office for Kosovo and Metohija demands that the perpetrators of this heinous incident be brought to justice, with pressure on Pristina to cease its policy of impunity, as it only further encourages troublemakers.
