Serb List: International community should reopen investigations into the Livadice crime
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the attack in Livadice on a Nis Ekspres bus, the Serb List stated that it will not give up its demand for justice, describing the event as one of the gravest and most monstrous crimes committed against the Serbian people in Kosovo.
“On that day, by detonating a landmine on the Nis–Pristina main road, under the escort of international KFOR forces, the first bus in a convoy carrying displaced Serbs traveling to Gracanica for Memorial Saturday was blown up. In this horrific attack, 12 innocent people lost their lives, while 43 were injured. The youngest victim was two-year-old Danilo Cokic,” the statement said.
It added that, in addition to the Cokic family – Njegos, Snezana, and little Danilo – those who were killed included Suncica Pejcic, Zivana Tokic, Slobodan Stojanovic, Nenad Stojanovic, Mirjana Dragovic, Veljko Stakic, Milinko Kragovic, Lazar Milkic, and Dragan Vukotic.
“These names are a lasting warning and testimony to the suffering of the Serbian people, but also a symbol of the impunity for crimes against Serbs. Unfortunately, this anniversary, like many previous ones, passes without clear and loud statements from international representatives, without condemnation of the crime and without calls for those responsible to be found and punished. Even after more than two decades, the families of the victims and the entire Serbian people are waiting for justice, while the perpetrators and masterminds of this terrorist act have not been adequately punished,” the Serb List stated.
The Serb List further said that without truth and justice there can be no reconciliation or lasting peace, calling for action from the international community.
“We demand that the international community assume responsibility, reopen investigations, and do everything to fully clarify this, as well as numerous other crimes committed against Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija. In the name of all the victims and their families, we will not give up our demand for justice. Forgetting is not and will not be an option,” the statement said.
