Office for Kosovo and Metohija: Even 22 years after the crime in Livadice, the perpetrators have not been found
Today marks the 22nd year since one of the most severe crimes was committed against the Serbs in Kosovo since the arrival of international forces, when 12 Serbs were killed, and 43 were seriously injured in an attack on the "Nis Express" bus in Livadice near Podujevo, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija announced.
In the bus were displaced Serbs who were going to Gracanica to mark the Memorial, accompanied by KFOR soldiers.
The Office for Kosovo and Metohija reminds that Suncica Pejcic, Zivana Tokic, Slobodan Stojanovic, Mirjana Dragovic, Veljko Stakic, Nenad Stojanovic, Milinko Kragovic, Lazar Milkic, Dragan Vukotic and Nebojsa, Snezana, and Danilo Cokic, who was only two years old, died in this monstrous attack.
"The fact that for twenty-two years international organizations and temporary institutions of self-government in Pristina have not been able to find and punish the instigators and perpetrators of this terrorist attack, nor the killers of Serbian children in Gorazdevac, fourteen reapers in Stari Gracko, and the Stolic family in Obilic, those responsible for the almost daily burning and demolition of Serbian houses and the desecration of churches and monasteries, renders all stories about the rule of law and justice in Kosovo and Metohija meaningless, but it also represents a crystal clear testimony of the criminal foundations of the so-called Kosovo statehood," the statement of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija reads.
The Office adds that they expect and demand from the international community and competent authorities that the investigation into this and all other cases of attacks on Serbs gets renewed as soon as possible, that all unsolved crimes are brought to light, and that their immediate perpetrators and principals get justly punished, which would, as they say, finally bring peace to the victims and a bit of comfort to the families.
"And finally, today, when we remember with sadness and pain the victims of this senseless attack, we say that the Serbs do not want the deepening of hostilities and divisions between the two peoples but that they rightly believe that there can be no true reconciliation without punishing those responsible for crimes against the Serbian people and without creating a political climate in which they will not be threatened with any new violence and new crimes," the statement says.
