Serb List: We reject Pristina's ultimatum to vacate premises in North Mitrovica

The Serb List has announced that, considering Pristina's intention to continue escalating the situation on the ground and occupy the building in North Mitrovica housing the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, the Service of the Directorate of the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund, the Kosovska Mitrovica Administrative District, and the Center for Social Work in Vucitrn, they are rejecting the ultimatum from the Pristina regime to vacate the premises of these institutions.

The Serb List has called for this issue to be resolved through dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina conducted under the auspices of the European Union, in the context of establishing the Community of Serb Municipalities, as envisaged by the agreements of 2013 and 2015.

"We remind you that these institutions of the Republic of Serbia have been providing services to all citizens without discrimination, including Serbs, Albanians, Bosniaks, Gorani, Roma, Turks, and others, for many years. In addition, 40 families depend on the work of the people employed in these institutions," the Serb List statement reads.

As they added, the persecution and violent occupation of this building would jeopardize the realization of human and civil rights for tens of thousands of people, both in the area of pension and disability insurance and in the field of social protection for the most vulnerable segments of the population.

The Serb List has called on the international community to invest maximum effort during this fragile peace to prevent the Pristina regime from escalating the situation and causing additional tensions, which, according to them, could have unforeseeable consequences on the ground.
