Serbia and Hungary firmly support Trump’s peace efforts

The foreign ministers of Serbia and Hungary, Marko Djuric and Peter Szijjarto, stated today that the two countries firmly support the peace efforts of US President Donald Trump to end the conflict in Ukraine.

“The governments of Serbia and Hungary advocate for peace, and together we stand firmly behind President Donald Trump’s efforts for peace. We support the implementation of the peace plan, it is a great opportunity,” Szijjarto emphasized.

Hungary believes that the situation will become more dramatic each day if this peace plan is not adopted, the Hungarian foreign minister said.

“If this plan is not adopted, every following day will lead to escalation and will mean more loss of life and continued destruction,” Szijjarto warned.

According to him, the war in Ukraine cannot be resolved on the battlefield and its continuation is pointless.

“The price of this war has already been paid by us Europeans. We are not responsible for the start of the war, we have no responsibility for resolving it, yet we are paying the price. Serbs and Hungarians are paying a high price, even though they have nothing to do with the war. Problems in energy supply are a consequence of the war in Ukraine in which there will be no winners. People are losing their lives, and European politicians who advocate war are doing everything to undermine the peace plan. This is why we, who advocate peace, will do everything in favor of peace. Our governments, more determined than ever, support efforts for peace. The time has come for the war to end, for Europeans to stop undermining the peace plan and to stop paying the price for a war with which they have nothing to do,” Szijjarto said.

Djuric confirmed that Serbia firmly supports Trump’s peace initiative.

“Peace in Ukraine must come immediately,” Djuric said.

He reminded that Serbia has taken in 300,000 refugees and displaced persons from war-affected areas, opening its doors to them and providing access to healthcare and education.

“For the future of Europe, which cannot endure this level of destruction, it is essential that the war ends. We are not an EU member state, but we add our voice to the peace initiative of the US President Donald Trump,” Djuric said.
