Serbian MFA condemns attack on infrastructure in the UAE, stresses importance of respecting the UN Charter
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia strongly condemned the latest drone attack on infrastructure within the perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the Al Dhafra region of the United Arab Emirates, as well as any act that may endanger the security of civilian and strategically important infrastructure.
“We are following the reports with serious concern and reiterate that preserving the safety and security of nuclear facilities intended for peaceful purposes is a shared responsibility of the international community and a principle established by the relevant international norms and standards,” the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reads.
The statement emphasizes that Serbia remains firmly committed to the respect for international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and the principles concerning the inviolability of civilian infrastructure, as well as to the peaceful resolution of all disputes.
“We express solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and extend our support to efforts aimed at preserving stability, preventing further escalation, and strengthening security and peace in the region and beyond,” the statement adds.
The drone attack caused a fire on Sunday on the edge of the only nuclear power plant in the United Arab Emirates, the AP reported.
