Following today’s operation by the Kosovo Police and the Regional Water Company "Mitrovica," during which control over the local waterworks in Zubin Potok was taken, residents have reacted with concern, describing the event as “terrifying” and “catastrophic.” Others, however, believe such matters should be resolved through mutual agreement, warning that it is the people who ultimately suffer.

A retired woman from Zubin Potok said she has never witnessed anything like this in her lifetime.

"This is terrible, something I’ve never seen before—and I was born in 1953. We’ve never had such problems, never experienced anything like this. What’s happening? God knows. We have no idea how they plan to supply us with water now,” she told us.

Another local pensioner stated that the authorities in Pristina have shut down everything, calling the situation catastrophic.

"Everything’s gone, I have no words. This is a disaster—they’ve closed the shops, the pharmacies, the electricity and the water. It’s unbelievable, this doesn’t happen anywhere else in the world,” he said.

Some citizens, however, believe that both sides need to be involved in decisions like this to avoid fueling further ethnic tensions among the population.

"Both sides should be consulted. You can't have these takeovers every day. We, the residents, are left with the fewest rights. Nowhere in the world does one side make all the decisions. This should have involved the local municipality, not just Pristina. They're using force. I believe that in a few years, it’s the locals who will suffer the most. But I also don’t think Kurti is doing this alone—it’s the whole Western world behind him. They're dividing us—Serbs and Albanians. Yesterday, water belonged to both Serbs and Albanians, and today, what they’re doing is shameful,” the resident concluded.
