Simic: Every time we raise our voice about the suffering of the Serbian people, summonses from the prosecution follow

The Serb List Deputy Leader Igor Simic said today that he and several colleagues had received summonses from the Kosovo Special Prosecutor's Office, Department for the Investigation of Terrorism, as they are accused of four serious criminal offenses they did not commit. Simic added that he will respond to the summons so that he can tell them the truth to their faces – “that the Serbian people are suffering in this region and want to live in peace”.

In a post on Instagram, Simic stressed that the prosecution has accused them of associating with the aim of attacking the constitutional order, endangering internationally protected persons, assaulting an official, and participating in a crowd committing a criminal offense and hooliganism.

“As always, I will respond to the summons, because I have nothing to hide,” Simic said, adding that he is aware that those who wrote the charges also know that he did not commit any criminal offense.

Simic added that every time political representatives of the Serbian people raise their voice about the suffering of the Serbian people and violations of their rights, summonses from the prosecution follow.

“New summonses arrive with the aim of exerting pressure, not only on us as individuals, but on the entire Serbian people, and trying to prevent Serbs from speaking about what is happening, to intimidate us,” Simic stressed.

He reiterated that he will respond to the summons from the Special Prosecutor's Office because he has nothing to hide and has an obligation to stand with and alongside his people.

“Whatever they accuse us of, and they know very well that we did not commit it. It is paradoxical that while Kurti's regime is violating all regulations against the Serbian people, when they do not respect the Constitution of Kosovo even within the institutions, do not convene parliamentary sessions, arrest Serbs without reason and try in every possible way to persecute Serbs, the prosecution does not react,” Simic said.

Simic points out that even when the prosecution does react, Serbs do not have the luxury of refusing to respond to summonses as representatives of the Albanian people allegedly do.

“I will respond, because we have nothing to hide. We know that we did not commit a single offense, and I am going to the questioning to tell them to their faces what the truth is – that the Serbian people are suffering in this region and want to live in peace,” Simic concluded.
