Stano: Belgrade and Pristina to decide when they will be ready to reach a final agreement

European Union spokesperson Peter Stano said that instead of setting artificial deadlines, the EU was helping Belgrade and Pristina decide when they would be ready to have a final date for reaching a comprehensive agreement on the normalization of relations, Albanian ABC news reported.

That was how Stano answered whether the date for the final agreement was March 2023.

He also stated that it was the nature of the EU to focus on the result, not on failure.

"The nature of the European Union is to focus on results and success, not failure. Stating what can happen in case of failure is important, but it would be better not to speculate about the possibility of abandoning or terminating the process. Especially after the reached agreement this week, we have some momentum. This agreement paves the way for crucial work on the further process of normalization between Kosovo and Serbia. We are focusing on that, and we expect both sides to work in that direction and to find the European solutions in a European way," Stano said for ABC News.

When asked if there is a known date for the high-level meeting, Stano said that all dates were announced right before the meeting itself for logistical reasons.

"It is not important for us to guess in advance about the dates. It is important that we have them in Brussels, to confirm that they will come to Brussels on the same day and according to the same agenda, in the hope that there will be results. The EU High Representative invited Prime Minister Kurti and President Vucic to come in the following days. I hope they will be able so that we continue in a positive manner achieved this week and use this momentum to move forward. This is not being done for the European Union, but for the interests of the citizens of Kosovo and Serbia, for stopping the escalation of the situation, and benefiting from a European perspective," Stano noted.
