Starovic briefs new German Ambassador on Pristina's actions against Serbs in Kosovo

Serbian Minister for European Integration Nemanja Starovic met today with Germany's new Ambassador to Belgrade, Anke Holstein, whom he briefed on activities being carried out by Pristina against the Serbian and other non-Albanian populations in Kosovo. Starovic expressed the expectation that Germany would continue to support Serbia's progress toward EU membership.

According to a statement from the Ministry of European Integration, Starovic and Holstein discussed Serbia's European Union accession process, the implementation of reforms, and opportunities to further enhance cooperation between Serbia and Germany in areas relevant to the country's European integration.

The Minister welcomed the Ambassador and wished her a successful tenure in Serbia, emphasizing the importance of continued dialogue with Germany as one of the most important EU member states and a significant partner for Serbia in its accession to the Union.

Starovic stressed that Serbia was committed to an open and substantive dialogue with Germany on reforms and the accession process, expressing the expectation that Germany would continue to support concrete reform achievements and Serbia's progress toward European Union membership.

He briefed the Ambassador on Serbia's progress in fulfilling its obligations under the accession negotiations and the Reform Agenda, stressing that Serbia was committed to accelerating the reform process and further aligning its national legislation with the EU acquis.

Particular attention during the meeting was devoted to opportunities for further German support for Serbia's modernization process, particularly through expert and development assistance in the areas of the rule of law, environmental protection, and sustainable development, as well as assistance in strengthening the institutional capacities of Serbia's public administration.

Starovic also specifically briefed Ambassador Holstein on "activities being carried out by the Provisional Institutions of Self-Government in Kosovo and Metohija against the Serbian and other non-Albanian populations."
