Sveçla: There is no discussion about fulfilling Vucic's request for the return of former police officers to the nort
Kosovo's Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, stated that there is no discussion about fulfilling Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic's request for former police officers who resigned in the north to return to their jobs, as reported by Koha.
During a session of the Main Board of the Self-Determination Movement, Sveçla remarked that such a move would be a violation of Kosovo's Constitution.
"The resignation of these police officers was, for many of them, actually a cleansing of the criminal element in that area. There is no question of fulfilling Aleksandar Vucic's request to reintegrate former police officers into the Kosovo Police. This is not only a violation of the law but also of the political will of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo," he said.
Speaking about the work done during the Self-Determination Movement's government, Sveçla mentioned cases submitted for organized crime, terrorism, and economic crime and corruption, stating that during the seven years before Kurti's government, not a single case was submitted for a criminal offense.
"From 2014 to 2021, the Kosovo Police at that time had zero cases for organized crime, zero cases for terrorism, and zero cases for economic crime and corruption. Due to previous agreements where various extremists and violent individuals were integrated into the Kosovo Police, they had uniforms, weapons, police authority, and even salaries, while they fully served Belgrade," he said.
Regarding the indictment for the Banjska case, Sveçla considered it incomplete because, according to him, it does not include certain Serbian officials, such as the army commander and the deputy commander.
