Vasic: Indictment raised against Dragisa Milenkovic, I hope they will release him pending trial

Lawyer Dejan A. Vasic confirmed to Kosovo Online that the Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo had raised an indictment against Dragisa Milenkovic from Kisnica for an alleged "war crime against the civilian population".

Lawyer Vasic emphasizes that the three-member legal team, consisting of himself and lawyers Zivojin Jokanovic and Jovana Filipovic, is not surprised by the development in the case of Dragisa Milenkovic, adding that such a thing was expected.

"If this may give any good hope, in my opinion, it is creating conditions for a possible suspension of the detention measure imposed on Dragisa and thinking about replacing that measure with a milder one", Vasic says.

He adds that tomorrow he will take over the case files from the Special Prosecutor's Office.

"Tomorrow I will pick up the case files from the Special Prosecutor's Office and study them. We, as attorneys, will be ready to very soon approach the court, for the introductory hearing and further stages of the evidentiary procedure. But I hope that there is a possibility for Dragisa to be released pending trial or under house arrest", lawyer Vasic said.

Dragisa Milenkovic is in custody in Podujevo, and as lawyer Vasic adds, his client has vision problems.

"He is almost blind, but he bears it stoically, facing the injustice inflicted on him bravely, and with good faith and hope, he looks forward to his certain release", Vasic concluded.

Dragisa Milenkovic was arrested on June 21 in Kisnica. Due to Milenkovic's arrest, protests were held for days in Gracanica in front of the police station. Lawyer Vasic requested that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti be questioned as a witness in Milenkovic's case because he was detained in the prison in Pristina at the time when Milenkovic worked there.
