President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic stated today that elections in Kosovo will bring a new wave of “anti-Serb hysteria.”
Speaking about improving Serbia’s relations with others, Vucic said that such efforts always create unease in certain countries in the region. He also emphasized that the upcoming elections in Pristina will generate additional tension.

“Elections are being held again in Pristina. That will bring new nervousness and a new anti-Serb hysteria. Moreover, you have noticed that whenever we improve relations, whenever we attempt to improve relations with Sarajevo, at that very moment, in Croatia they start inventing ‘Sarajevo safaris’ or, as ten years ago, incidents in Srebrenica. Who did that incident benefit? It benefited neither Bosniaks nor Serbs. No one. It benefited some third parties,” President Vucic said in an appearance on Blic TV.

According to him, it is clear what lies behind major campaigns against Serbia.

“The Americans said, they shook hands with everyone, applied some pressure, and everyone said: ‘Let’s go to Ploce so that LNG can be used.’ So, to the Croatian port, and from there, a pipeline of whatever kind you want. Naturally, the greatest benefit is for the Croats, and also for the Bosniaks. As for what we discussed—eastern gas interconnections—at this moment there is clearly no talk of it. I just want to tell you that in these regional matters, people clearly and unequivocally understand what lies behind all major campaigns and attacks against Serbia,” Vucic said.

According to him, anti-Serb hysteria is not occurring only in Pristina, but also in Montenegro.

“Look at that hysteria that exists in part of Montenegro against Serbia. They want the 33 percent of Serbs to effectively be second-class citizens and to be able to hold the highest political offices only if they remain silent, while some, in order to stay in top political positions, will even change their identity. As you can see today with some members of the highest state leadership. People have literally changed their identity. They were Serbs until yesterday, now they are not. But what can you do? That is their right, and we should not interfere in such matters. Our role is only to respond to the campaign that is coming, to protect our interests, to understand this well, and to seek to build friendships,” he said.

Vucic also referred to the visit of the President of Switzerland, with whom he discussed innovations in the military industry, as well as the overall situation in Europe.

“A few days ago, news emerged that Germany officially produces more ammunition than the United States. The United States must protect its interests in Europe as well. That division will not be so simple either. Once again, you have a division between those who accept migrants and those who do not. You have Spain, which has now allowed 500,000, while today I am speaking with a European minister who does not support that policy. So, whichever way you look at it, there are countless crisis hotspots. It is unclear how the situation in Ukraine will be resolved. It is unclear how the situation in Iran will be handled, because if it is not resolved and remains as it is, oil prices will exceed 130,” he warned.
