President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic has called on opposition parties to submit 67 signatures to hold a consultative referendum on his removal, following a statement by the NGO CRTA that the vast majority of citizens support his dismissal.

"Objective and impartial CRTA informed the public that the vast majority of citizens are in favor of my removal. There is no more credible source for the international community or political parties in Serbia than this non-governmental organization. I have fought for the people, and the people are my strength. If CRTA's claims are accurate, it is impossible for me to remain President of Serbia, and therefore, it is necessary for opposition parties to submit just 67 signatures, and they have more than 80, for holding a consultative referendum on the President of Serbia," Vucic stated on Instagram.

He added that legitimacy is the most important thing in politics, and sovereignty always stems from the will of the people.

"I believe this offer is more than fair, and it is good for everyone in this country to stop pretending that they care about some construction notebooks and finally set things straight. Contrary to popular belief, I have never been interested in power for its own sake. I have been and remain solely interested in Serbia’s progress. Serbia must not stop! Long live Serbia," Vucic concluded.
