Vucic: The Svecla case is proof of the hypocrisy of the collective West

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, pointed out today that the picture of Xhelal Svecla overturning EULEX's jeep was a picture of the complete hypocrisy of the collective West.

"It is a picture of the complete hypocrisy of the collective West, much more than the shame of Svecla. He did the same as he does today. It speaks of double standards, the hypocrisy of the EU and the US," Vucic told TV Pinik when asked about the fact that Svecla would not be held criminally responsible for hooliganism 10 years ago, for which he had been accused, due to the statute of limitations on the case.

He pointed out that Svecla would neither be prosecuted nor answer for overturning the EULEX jeep.

"He is not prosecuted by the so-called Kosovar prosecutor, nor by the European prosecutor, but by the Serbs who have done nothing of the sort. When you ask how this is possible, there is no answer and there will be no answer," Vucic added.

He said that emotionally we always said that it was unfair and unjust to us, but that would not save us.

"We have to face that and the reality is that there is no justice for the Serbs that no one in the West cares about our suffering. Don't have any illusions. But we are fighting and managing to preserve ourselves in the international community," he emphasized.

On June 27, 2013, the Basic Prosecutor's Office in Pristina received a criminal complaint from the Kosovo Police against the suspects Dardan Molliqaj, Xhelal Svecla, Arsim Makastena, Bekim Shkodra, and others for the criminal offenses of assault on an official, destruction or damage to property, and then for obstructing officials in the performance of their official duties and inflicting minor bodily injuries.

Based on that criminal complaint, on March 14, 2014, the Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment against Svecla, Molliqaj, and others, who were accused of hooligan behavior and other criminal acts, such as attacking members of the Kosovo Police, who were pelted with bottles, paint, and stones. They also overturned the EULEX Mission Jeep. Several policemen then ended up with injuries.

This means that after 10 years since they committed the criminal acts they are charged with, the case ends without an epilogue because the absolute statute of limitations has set in, Kosovo media report.
