President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic warned this evening that there will be many problems with the local elections in Kosovo, where the caretaker Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, is trying to prevent the Serb List from participating, while at the same time seeking to appoint Nenad Rasic as deputy speaker of parliament, even though he should appoint Slavko Simic as the candidate of the Serb List.

When asked about the decision of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to call presidential elections in the Republic of Srpska, as well as the statement of the head of that body that “if no one in the Republic of Srpska turns out to vote, voters from the Federation will decide,” Vucic stressed that this was a very dangerous statement, showing that they are pursuing the same scenario as in northern Kosovo.
“Some are playing games without understanding that this is not the time to use someone else’s force,” the President of Serbia said in an appearance on Pink Television.
He warned that there would be many problems with the local elections in Kosovo.
“We will face many problems in the elections in Kosovo and Metohija, where Kurti is preventing the Serb List from being allowed to participate and is attempting to appoint Nenad Rašić as deputy speaker of the Assembly, even though the obligation is to appoint Slavko Simic, who is the nominee of the Serb List,” Vucic said.
He emphasized that this is something that must be endured in order to preserve peace and stability, for which Serbia will do everything in its power.
Announcing the continuation of infrastructure projects in various parts of the country, Vucic recalled that the construction of the road from Kraljevo to Raska and to Novi Pazar, as well as to Jarinje, had been planned.
“We asked the Americans… We are ready to fully finance the section in northern Kosovo, to extend it all the way down to Kosovska Mitrovica. We will pay for it and build it. We are paying everything in advance, for our people in northern Kosovo, so that they can have a fast road connection to North Mitrovica,” Vucic said, adding that in that case, Mitrovica would be no more than a three-hour drive from Belgrade.
Speaking about Serbia’s European path, he admitted that it is difficult to explain to citizens why the European path is important, since many feel emotionally closer to Russia.
“How can I explain how important the green corridors on the road to Europe are, how much they reduce our costs? How crucial roaming agreements are, access to the common market, exporting goods without customs duties, but also belonging to a system of values where, no matter what political antics are produced, there will be no dictatorship. And yet, how can I also explain to those who love Europe how important Russia is for us, as well as the growing importance of China,” Vucic underlined.
