Vucic: They are saying there will be violence if Thaci and others are not released, I am concerned about the march in Pristina

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said today that he is concerned about a gathering called the “March for Freedom”, scheduled for September 12 in Pristina, several days before the verdict is due to be handed down to former KLA leaders Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi, and Jakup Krasniqi, adding that they are saying from Pristina that there will be violence if they are not released.

“It really concerns me because the Albanians have scheduled a large ‘march for freedom’, if that is what they called it, for September 12, expecting Hashim Thaci to be released, along with Kadri Veseli and the others. They are saying there will be violence and putting pressure on the court if that does not happen. We will wait until September 16, and then we will respond and explain everything that people from the international community have been doing against Serbia over the past five, six and seven years, and how they have been carrying out that entire plan,” Vucic said during a visit to Rusko Selo near Kikinda.

He added that he would have an opportunity to speak about this at the United Nations General Assembly on September 22 or 23.

A gathering called the “March for Freedom” has been announced in Pristina for September 12 as a sign of support for former KLA leaders. The verdict in the case against the KLA leaders is scheduled for September 16 before the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague.

The four former KLA leaders, Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi, and Jakup Krasniqi, are on trial before the Kosovo Specialist Chambers for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during and after the 1998 and 1999 war in Kosovo.
