Vujinovic: Acceptance of the Serb List's appeal was expected; Kurti's obstructions will continue
Security studies researcher Nikola Vujinovic stated to Kosovo Online that it was expected for the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel (ECAP) to accept the appeal by the Serb List, noting that the rejection of their candidacy was another political move by Albin Kurti aimed at harming the Serbian political community in Kosovo and testing the international community.
"The mere fact that there was a complaint was expected, as it was a political complaint. If it had been any kind of technical objection, the process would have dragged on further. But since it wasn’t, it was expected that this was just another political maneuver by Albin Kurti to harm the Serbian political community in Kosovo and Metohija and to test how far he can push the international community," Vujinovic said.
As he emphasized, he does not expect formal attacks on the Serb List or the Serbian community in Kosovo in the coming period. However, he pointed out that there might be obstructions on the ground.
"Whether it involves attempts to prevent polling stations from operating properly, hindering the Serb List’s pre-election activities – which cannot be ruled out given the large number of police officers in northern Kosovo and Metohija – or new arrests, detentions, and interrogations, I expect many actions that Albin Kurti could undertake, has already undertaken, and will likely continue to undertake to score political points," Vujinovic concluded.
