Westerlund: Integration of education and healthcare into Kosovo’s system should take place within the dialogue

Sweden’s Ambassador to Kosovo, Jonas Westerlund, stated that the integration of the Serbian education and healthcare systems into Kosovo’s system should take place within the framework of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Kosovo Press reports.

Speaking at a discussion held at the Media Center, Westerlund emphasized that Kosovo’s laws should apply in all 38 municipalities, but added that the integration process must be part of the Brussels dialogue.

“We believe that Kosovo law should apply in all 38 municipalities. Integration in these areas must ultimately take place. I heard Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti say that Serbian doctors and professors have received our licenses, which is a good sign. I hope the government will continue to address these issues. All citizens should receive healthcare and education services in line with the needs of local communities. We must not have barriers when it comes to healthcare and education. This issue must be resolved through dialogue—with local communities and with the EU Special Representative. We believe this should be part of that dialogue,” Westerlund said.
