Ymeri: Kurti dragged Kosovo into a diplomatic war with the US and the EU
Former leader of the Self-Determination Movement, Visar Ymeri, stated to Ekonomia Online that, since the end of the armed conflict, Kosovo is currently in its most challenging situation and has never been in such a dangerous position as it is today, due to its relations with the United States and the European Union.
Visar Ymeri describes this situation as an "alarm," as Kosovo cannot take any steps in the international arena, or in control, or expand its sovereignty over the entire territory without the assistance of its Western friends and allies, particularly the United States.
Regarding Kurti, Ymeri characterized him as stubborn, and he criticized Kurti's actions and behavior, considering them harmful and dangerous, as Kosovo finds itself in a deadlock.
According to Ymeri, Kurti dragged Kosovo into a diplomatic war with the United States and the European Union.
"I fail to understand Kurti's plan today. How can Kosovo benefit from simultaneously waging war with the United States and the European Union, and by war, I mean a diplomatic war, and experiencing extremely high tensions in the north," Ymeri stated.
Regarding the US sanctions, Ymeri expressed concern that America would not assist Kosovo in the international arena.
"We can see that the list of US sanctions has started to take effect, including exclusion from military exercises, along with serious warnings and remarks from the US ambassador, among which the most concerning is that the US will not take any steps to support Kosovo in the international arena from now on," he noted.
He also expressed concern about the possibility of the European Union imposing sanctions on Kosovo.
"A few days ago, it was stated that the EU is discussing measures and sanctions for both Kosovo and Serbia if they do not agree with the plan to calm the situation in the north. I think this paints a rather bleak picture of Kosovo's perspective," Ymeri concluded.
