Attack on the Church of the Holy Saviour in Prizren, prosecution registered case as “property damage”

The Kosovo Police detained and questioned a man suspected of damaging the doors and exterior lighting of the Church of the Holy Saviour in Prizren while under the influence of alcohol on the night of August 18 to 19.
According to the Kosovo Police, the man is suspected of causing material damage to two entrance doors and the floodlights of the Church of the Holy Saviour in Prizren while intoxicated.
After questioning, the competent prosecutor decided to release the suspect.
The case was referred to regular judicial proceedings under the classification of the criminal offense of “destruction or damage to property.”
The Church of the Holy Saviour in Prizren was built around 1330. It was severely damaged during the March 2004 pogrom.
In September 2013, the doors of the Church of the Holy Saviour were broken down, and the gate was taken away.
