Desecrated cemetery in the village of Gojbulje
A new act of desecration was recorded this morning at the village cemetery in Gojbulje, near Vucitrn, after livestock were allowed to graze on burial plots. Fresh graves were destroyed, flowers knocked over, and Serbian flags damaged, residents of the village confirmed, as reported by TV Most.
According to local residents, Albanian neighbors released their livestock onto the village cemetery. While searching for food, the animals trampled fresh graves and knocked down flowers and Serbian flags.
They note that this is not the first time that the final resting places of Serbs buried in this cemetery have been desecrated in this manner.
The village cemetery in Gojbulje also contains the Church of St. Petka, which dates back to the first half of the 18th century. The church sustained severe damage in 1999, when it was desecrated and set on fire.
Over the past 27 years, it has been looted on several occasions.
Gojbulje is a mixed village where, alongside a majority Albanian population, around fifty Serbian families also live. Most Serbs from this municipality were forced to leave their homes in 1999.
