Municipality of Leposavic at the International Fair in Belgrade: Active tourism as the greatest potential

As a part of the International Tourism Fair in Belgrade, the Municipality of Leposavic presented itself today. Representatives of the Tourist-Sports Organization stated that its greatest tourism potential lay in active tourism, as well as in wines, gastronomy, and high-quality honey, which was the winner at the Novi Sad Fair.

Marko Radosavljevic, the Director of the Tourist-Sports Organization of Leposavic, said that Leposavic had significant tourism and natural potential as one of the largest municipalities in the northern part of Kosovo.

"In recent years, we have focused on outdoor tourism, cycling trails, and mountain tourism. We also have the Vuca Spa, and we hope there will be serious tourism investments in it. We are known for our excellent gastronomic offer, as well as for our wines, among which we have four or five excellent producers," Radosavljevic said.

He added that besides good wine, Leposavic could also boast about excellent quality honey. According to him, they have a beekeeper who is the champion of the Novi Sad Beekeeping Fair. He said that the "Pcelarski cvet" (Beekeeping Flower) Association gathered more than 400 beekeepers and that the honey they produce was well-known far and wide.

He added that the focus in the coming period would be on active tourism and emphasized that those who visited Leposavic once always gladly returned because of the beauty of nature and the hospitality of the people. Aleksandar Tanaskovic from the Tourist-Sports Organization of Leposavic, during the presentation of the tourist offer at the Fair, stated that the municipality had both significant material and immaterial cultural heritage.

He mentioned that mountain bike races were already being organized, and one of the tourist attractions of Leposavic was rafting on the Ibar River.

He added that he expected further investments in the Vuca Spa, where a bathing area had been built, and emphasized that wines from Leposavic were internationally renowned. He thanked the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, highlighting that it provided significant support to Leposavic in tourism development.

Beekeeper Ljubisa Milosavljevic, the recipient of the highest award for honey quality at the Novi Sad Beekeeping Fair, reveals the secret of the quality of his honey. He says it's due to the region and the medicinal herbs that thrive there, making the honey particularly healthy.

"I am the winner of the gold medal for the quality of meadow and forest honey," he says, adding that he has more than 200 beehives, but he is more interested in the quality of honey than quantity, and he plans to expand his business and produce products such as propolis.

One of the brands of Leposavic is certainly the Cultural Artistic Society "Kopaonik," which presented a special cultural program as a part of Leposavic's presentation at the Tourism Fair. On that occasion, they performed medieval dances from Kosovo and a medley of dances from Pristina.

The main choreographer and director of the ensemble, Djordje Lakusic, says that the Cultural Artistic Society "Kopaonik" is a great guardian of intangible cultural heritage. He mentions that the members are a part of European and global associations of folklore ensembles and rank among the top 10 in Serbia.

He emphasizes that, including countries from the region, they have performed in 40 countries worldwide so far. He is particularly proud that young people are interested in preserving customs and traditions through folklore.

"We have great interest, not only from children in Leposavic but also from those in Kosovo Pomoravlje, Priluzje, and even from Raska and Kraljevo, who are members of our Cultural Artistic Society," he emphasized.
