Radasin Vlaskovic: We are very happy that Nemanja is finally with us at home

We are very happy that Nemanja is finally with us at home. We were all happy for him, my wife and I, his two sisters, and most of all, his five-year-old daughter. He is fine and that is the most important thing for us, that he will be able to defend himself against the accusations of the Pristina police and judicial authorities, Radasin, the father of Nemanja Vlaskovic (33) from Leposavic, who was released on Friday evening after a month's detention in a high-risk prison in Podujevo.

The basic court in Mitrovica accepted the proposal of the defense of lawyer Predrag Miljkovic and allowed Vlaskovic to defend himself on bail in further proceedings, which is why his father did not want to comment on the details of the court process or his stay behind bars.

Nemanja, who was arrested on June 16 during a peaceful protest by citizens in front of the Leposavic Municipality building due to an intrusion by members of the Kosovo Police, is charged with an alleged attack on journalists, inciting religious and ethnic hatred.

"Vlaskovic had to submit his travel and personal documents to the court and promise that he will not leave his place of residence," lawyer Predrag Miljkovic explained to Novosti.

The lawyer notes that the court's decision to release on bail is expected for two more Serbs who are charged with the same alleged crimes, Dalibor Spasic, a medical technician from North Mitrovica, and Uros Vukomanovic from Leposavic.

Spasic was arrested the day after Vlaskovic, on June 17, at the administrative crossing of Jarinje, while he was returning from central Serbia with his minor daughter and wife, and after forty-eight hours of police custody, the Basic Court in Mitrovica ordered him to be detained for 30 days.

Just two days later, on June 19, early in the morning, Uros Vukasinovic (28), who is employed by "Telekom Srbija" in Kosovo, was also arrested on the street in Leposavic while he was on his way to work. He was literally abducted from the street by members of the Kosovo Police in civilian clothes. And Vukasinovic, as stated by his lawyer Nebojsa Vlajic, was charged with an alleged attack on journalists.

In the prison in Podujevo, there are several more Serbs arrested in the past months in the north of Kosovo and Metohija under unclear charges. Among them is Nenad Orlovic (35), a PUC worker from North Mitrovica who was arrested on June 23 in front of a car wash not far from the bus station where he worked privately. He is the seventh Serb to be arrested since the beginning of the latest crisis and is charged with the alleged attack on members of KFOR on May 29.

Milun Milenkovic Lune (37), who is also in custody in the high-risk prison in Grdovac, is charged with alleged terrorism, and after one month, his detention was extended for another two months. For the same criminal offense, the Basic Court in Pristina extended the house arrest of Dejan Pantic, a former member of the Kosovo Police, by two months.
