Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs: Kosovo Police deputy director released from detention

Deputy Director of the so-called Kosovo Police, Dejan Jankovic, has been released from detention, as confirmed by the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Four members of the Kosovo Police were detained on Wednesday during a check at an administrative crossing. Three were released after security checks, while Jankovic was held for up to 48 hours for the purpose, as stated yesterday by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, of establishing facts and necessary security checks regarding the security of the Republic of Serbia.

Earlier, the Ministry stated that Pristina's claims of an alleged detention of a bus with Kosovo license plates at the Batrovci border crossing were unfounded and clarified that the police had not detained or prevented entry or passage for any citizen from Kosovo territory.

The Ministry explained that there was increased control of all passengers at border crossings and that security checks were being conducted for the greater safety and security of citizens, which might cause longer delays at the border crossing itself.
