Vasic: Jovanovic arrested by mistake; sleepless night for his family

Lawyer Dejan A. Vasic, who was hired by the Kosovo Office to represent Miljan Jovanovic, a former member of the Kosovo Police, who was arrested yesterday at the Jarinje administrative crossing, confirmed for Kosovo Online that his client had been arrested by mistake.

"Miljan Jovanovic was detained in Jarinje last night due to a technical error, and he spent the night in the police station. The Special Prosecutor's Office determined this morning that it was a mistake and issued an order for his release," Vasic said.

Jovanovic was released today, but as Vasic added, the family survived a nightmare and had a sleepless night, especially considering what happened in the previous period.

"The arrest of Mr. Jovanovic, and before that the arrest and prosecution of Sladjan Trajkovic, who was also a member of the Kosovo Police, for war crimes, and the arrest of Dejan Pantic, in addition to the Jovanovic family, disturbed the families of all former Kosovo police officers and citizens in northern Kosovo," Vasic said.

Vasic expressed his gratitude and emphasized the Special Prosecutor's Office's efficiency in eliminating errors and problems.
