Djedovic Handanovic and Agen discuss strengthening Serbia–U.S. cooperation in the energy sector

Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic met with Jarrod Agen, Executive Director of the White House National Energy Dominance Council, to discuss expanding and strengthening cooperation between Serbia and the United States in the energy sector.

“A special focus was placed on new projects that can contribute to strengthening energy security, diversifying supply sources, and developing modern energy infrastructure. We have a Strategic Cooperation Agreement in the field of energy with the United States, which is also the first strategic agreement between our two countries and provides an excellent framework for cooperation, particularly in the gas, hydropower, and renewable energy sectors,” Djedovic Handanovic wrote on Instagram.

She emphasized that the discussions also addressed the situation regarding the sanctions imposed on NIS by the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

“I expressed my gratitude for the postponements that we have received so far and once again underscored the importance of NIS for our budget, economy, and security of supply, and consequently for the normal functioning of both citizens and businesses. Serbia remains open to dialogue, and we are working every day to find a long-term solution until NIS is removed from the sanctions list,” the minister stated.
