Detention lifted for seven directors of educational and healthcare institutions from Gracanica

The Basic Court in Pristina has lifted the detention measure imposed on the directors of educational and healthcare institutions from the municipality of Gracanica, who were arrested on May 19, and replaced it with a requirement to report regularly to the police, attorney Bogdan Lazic, legal counsel for Mechanical Engineering School Director Nebojsa Rasic, confirmed to Kosovo Online.

The court lifted the detention of Bratislav Lazic, Director of the Priština Clinical Hospital Center based in Gracanica; Mirjana Dimitrijevic, Director of the Gracanica Health Center; Sasa Mladenovic, Director of the Health Center in Donja Gusterica; Milica Dimic, Director of the "Braca Aksic" Elementary School in Lipljan; Ljubisa Karadzic, Director of the "Miladin Mitic" Elementary School in Laplje Selo; Nebojsa Rasic, Director of the Mechanical Engineering School in Preoce; and Boban Petrovic, Director of the Electrical Engineering School in Susica.

The seven directors were arrested on May 19 on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of “violating the free choice of voters.”

On May 21, the Basic Court in Pristina ordered their detention for up to 30 days.

Employees of educational and healthcare institutions in central Kosovo had been holding daily protests since the arrests, demanding their release.
