Elshani: Case against two men arrested at Jarinje to proceed under regular procedure

The case against two men detained yesterday at the Jarinje crossing after five knives and materials bearing what police described as nationalist symbols were found in their vehicle will proceed under the regular procedure, Deputy Police Commander for the North Region Veton Elshani confirmed to Kosovo Online.

According to Elshani, the prosecutor classified the case as illegal possession of weapons.

According to the police statement, the items found in their possession included, in addition to five knives, a GoPro camera with a mount, two T-shirts bearing nationalist symbols and inscriptions, two multifunctional tools, a Serbian flag, a stamp bearing the four “S” symbols and the inscription “Association of Medieval Martial Arts Enthusiasts, Sremski Karlovci,” as well as an identity card.

The 11th International Medieval Knights Festival “Shield” was held in Gracanica today, bringing together participants from central Serbia, Slovakia and North Macedonia.

Festival organizer Boban Petrovic told Kosovo Online that this year’s “Shield” festival had fewer participants due to the situation and protests in Kosovo. He added that two people from central Serbia had been detained for possessing knives that they used to maintain equipment employed in demonstrations of medieval skills.
