Miljkovic and Delevic: The prosecution had no evidence confirming the guilt of the Serbs accused of terrorism

The defense attorneys for the four Serbs indicted by the Special Prosecutor’s Office for committing a terrorist act, Milos Delevic and Predrag Miljkovic, stated after today’s hearing that the prosecution has no evidence that any of the defendants engaged in any incriminating actions, which is why they hope for an acquittal. Closing arguments are scheduled for July 2.
The trial of Milun Milenkovic, Dejan Pantic, Aleksandar Vlajic, and Miomir Vakic continued today before the Special Department of the Basic Court in Pristina. While Milenkovic, Pantic, and Vakic chose to remain silent—claiming they had already provided detailed statements to the police—Aleksandar Vlajic gave his defense and answered questions from the attorneys, the prosecutor, and the court panel.
His attorney, Milos Delevic, emphasized that Vlajic addressed two points from the indictment: being seen at the scene and speaking on the phone.
“He explained to the court today that he lives near the premises of the Municipal Election Commission (MEC), that he was returning from town that day and was walking along that street as he does every other day, past the Commission’s premises. He also explained that he called his wife out of concern for her safety due to the sirens, crowd, and explosions that occurred that day,” said Delevic.
He stressed that the prosecution has no evidence that Vlajic called the other defendant, Milun Milenkovic, and that this is merely a baseless assumption.
“Closing arguments are scheduled for July 2. After that, the verdict will be announced, bringing this first-instance procedure to an end. I expect my client to be acquitted, as there is genuinely no evidence he committed this crime,” Delevic added.
Milun Milenkovic’s attorney, Predrag Miljkovic, also pointed out that the prosecution lacks any evidence supporting the indictment.
“At the end of this trial, before the closing arguments, I can say that the prosecution absolutely does not have a single piece of evidence that any of the defendants took any incriminating action. Let alone proving that a terrorist attack occurred,” said Miljkovic.
He noted that the defense will, in their closing arguments, thoroughly elaborate the entire case from the beginning and highlight the key points they believe are in the defendants' interest.
“In my opinion, the level of suspicion here is extremely low—this has not passed the threshold of well-founded suspicion. We have only some assumptions and, more or less, speculations, supported by some informational police reports prepared for the prosecution,” Miljkovic concluded.
The four Serbs are accused of jointly, with other unidentified persons, carrying out a terrorist attack on the premises of the Municipal Election Commission on December 6, 2022, when, during a protest by Serbs, two hand grenades and two stun grenades were thrown, thereby, according to the indictment, endangering human lives.
Milun Milenkovic and Aleksandar Vlajic remain in custody, while the others are defending themselves while at liberty.
