Serb List: KFOR and EULEX must urgently investigate Nenad Raskovic's allegations that he was beaten and mistreated by Kosovo Police

Nenad Raskovic, from the village of Dren in the municipality of Zubin Potok, was beaten and mistreated by members of the Kosovo Police late this afternoon, who demanded that he confess to committing a war crime against Albanians during the war, the Serb List stated, citing his testimony.

According to the Serb List's statement, late this afternoon in the village of Dren, in the municipality of Zubin Potok, Kosovo Police officers entered Raskovic's family home and, after conducting a search, began beating him without any reason, according to his testimony.

According to Raskovic, the statement added, they then took him to a nearby forest, tied him to a tree and severely beat him with a water hose, causing multiple injuries and, according to preliminary information, fractured ribs.

The Serb List reported that Raskovic said that, while mistreating him, the officers demanded that he confess to having committed a war crime against Albanians during the war.

"Nenad was subsequently left tied to the tree. With the help of friends, he was freed and taken to the Health Center in Zubin Potok and then to the Clinical Hospital Center in Kosovska Mitrovica, where he is currently under medical observation and the extent of his injuries is being assessed," the Serb List stated.

The statement added that, according to residents of Dren, Nenad Raskovic is an honest and honorable man with an unblemished record who has never had any problems with the law.

The Serb List strongly condemned the alleged brutal treatment of Nenad Raskovic and demanded an urgent, independent, and comprehensive investigation into all the circumstances of the case, as well as the establishment of responsibility of all those involved.

"We call on representatives of the international community, KFOR, and EULEX to urgently investigate all allegations concerning this incident and take measures within their respective mandates to establish all the facts and ensure the protection of citizens' rights and security, as information is emerging that similar mistreatment and beatings have also been inflicted on several other citizens, but that they did not report them out of fear," the Serb List stated.
