The Appeals Court has returned the case of Dusko Arsic from Maticani for retrial, who was sentenced by the Basic Court in Pristina to 13 years in prison for war crimes committed in 1999, confirmed his lawyer Nebojsa Vlajic for Kosovo Online.

"The verdict was annulled due to numerous violations and errors by the trial court. The defense's appeal was accepted, and the trial will start anew," Vlajic told Kosovo Online.

He emphasized that he still does not know when the new trial in this case will be held.

The Basic Court in Pristina sentenced Dusko Arsic on February 2, 2024, to 13 years in prison for the criminal act of "war crime."

The defense then filed an appeal against the verdict.

Dusko Arsic was arrested on December 8, 2021, at the Jarinje crossing, in the presence of two minor children, after he came to address issues regarding usurped property in the village of Maticani, near Pristina.

The prosecution charges that he committed a war crime in 1999 in the village of Butovac, Kosovo.

Arsic filed a lawsuit for the usurpation of property on September 20, 2021.
