Vlajic: Srecko Sofronijevic from Zvecan released to defend himself from freedom

Srecko Sofronijevic from Zvecan, who was arrested in mid-April at the Brnjak crossing while traveling with his family towards central Serbia, has been released to defend himself from freedom, confirmed his lawyer Nebojša Vlajic to Kosovo Online.

Vlajic stated that Sofronijevic is now with his family in Zvecan.

"Sofronijevic has been released; today his detention was lifted. He went home, the bail I proposed a month ago was accepted, and today the court made a decision and lifted his detention," said Vlajic.

He noted that the proceedings against Sofronijevic will continue, but he will be at home and will respond to court summons.

"He can now move freely, work, travel, go to work, spend time with his children and family, and live normally," the lawyer explained.

Sofronijevic was arrested on April 13 at the Brnjak crossing while traveling with his family towards central Serbia.

The Kosovo police announced at the time that S. S. was suspected of committing criminal offenses in 2021, including "attempted aggravated murder, assault on an official, possession and unauthorized use of weapons, incitement to resistance, and participation in riots."

Sofronijevic was shot on October 13, 2021, by members of the Kosovo special police. He was admitted in critical condition to the Clinical Hospital Center in Kosovska Mitrovica. He was immediately operated on to remove the bullet and continued his recovery at the Emergency Center in Belgrade.
