Nebojsa Vlajic, the lawyer representing Dusko Arsic, who is accused of a war crime, stated after today’s hearing that the prosecutor is trying to compensate for a lack of quality with quantity, meaning the number of witnesses.

Vlajic says that the prosecutor does not have a single witness who can confirm Arsic’s guilt.

“We saw that one of them is professionally engaged in buying Serbian land and, according to his own words, has purchased more than 300 plots. It is clear, as we pointed out in the previous trial, that this is one of the reasons, if not the main reason, why such proceedings are being conducted against Dusko Arsic, because there was a misunderstanding, meaning he refused to sell the plots that someone wanted to buy,” Vlajic said.

He added that there are still a few witnesses left to be questioned and that he expects a fair ruling in February – an acquittal.

“There are still a few witnesses to be questioned, and I estimate that this trial could be completed in February. I expect a fair ruling, and a fair ruling in a case like this, where there truly is not a single piece of evidence, can only be an acquittal,” Vlajic said.

The next hearings have been scheduled for 27 January, and for 5 and 6 February of next year.
