Baraliu: Citizens are most interested in the socio-economic situation
University professor from Pristina, Mazllum Baraliu, told Kosovo Online that the people of Kosovo are most interested in what political parties are offering in terms of socio-economic policies during the election campaign, and then other issues related to the north or south of Kosovo.
Baraliu notes that the ruling Self-Determination movement does not have a written program for the elections but highlights individual issues during the campaign. Regarding the opposition, he mentions that it has not been sufficiently capable over the past four years to play a decisive role or push for corrective measures or decisions.
“The opposition has only managed to disrupt some parliamentary sessions and nothing more,” Baraliu observed.
He points out that on the international stage, Kosovo's Prime Minister Albin Kurti accepted the latest agreement from the Brussels dialogue, however, ahead of the elections, Self-Determination has not publicly shared its stance on the matter.
“Just as Serbia strategically plays a political game, so does he, it seems. He verbally acknowledges the agreement but then demands a signature and later says he will not send the proposal for the Association's statute to the Constitutional Court. In other words, both Pristina and Belgrade are playing a game,” Baraliu concluded.
