Hargreaves visits polling stations in North Mitrovica
British Ambassador to Kosovo Jonathan Hargreaves visited polling stations in North Mitrovica.
Hargreaves stressed that Kosovo is ready to demonstrate the strength of democracy.
"I came to visit several polling stations here as part of the EU diplomatic community that is observing the elections today. Together, we are trying to gain a clear picture of what is happening across the country. We will see how things unfold throughout the day. I am looking forward to seeing many people cast their votes," he emphasized.
Hargreaves noted that it was a beautiful day and that citizens could come out and vote.
"Kosovo can demonstrate the strength of democracy," the British ambassador stressed.
Earlier, Hargreaves spoke with the President of the Central Election Commission, Kreshnik Radoniqi.
As he stated in a Facebook post, a large number of people are working tirelessly behind the scenes today to ensure a peaceful and efficient democratic process.
"I started the day with a visit to the Central Election Commission in Pristina, where I met with CEC President Kreshnik Radoniqi. I thanked him and his team for the excellent work they carried out during the previous electoral cycle. I also met with the IT team, the duty prosecutor and the Kosovo Police coordinator," he said in the Facebook post.
According to him, efforts are being made to ensure that the elections proceed smoothly.
"I thanked them for the efforts of their teams to ensure that today's elections run smoothly. Many people are working tirelessly behind the scenes today to ensure a peaceful and efficient democratic process. It is now up to the people of Kosovo to come out and vote," Hargreaves added.
