Jevtic: We must say “no” to Albin Kurti by voting for the Serb List

Vice President of the Serb List, Dalibor Jevtic, stated this evening that the elections in Kosovo on 7 June represent a referendum in which voters will choose between Albin Kurti’s policy of driving the Serbian people out of Kosovo and, on the other hand, the policy advocated by the Serb List, with the support of official Belgrade, which is focused on the survival, continued presence, and return of the Serbian people in Kosovo.

“It's a struggle for a better position, a better life, and for what are considered basic human rights. On Sunday, 7 June, people will be choosing between these two options. This choice also exists within the Serbian community itself, because within the Serbian community there are two options – the Serb List, which advocates the policy of survival and continued presence of the Serbian people, and, on the other hand, Nenad Rasic, who represents Kurti’s policy. I am almost certain that on Sunday, 7 June, a very clear and strong message will be sent — a message saying ‘no’ to Albin Kurti and that everything he has been doing over the past several years, the terror he has imposed on the Serbian people, will not succeed,” Jevtic said during an appearance on RTS.

As he explained, 7 June is not a decisive day in a fateful sense, but it is nevertheless an important day for Serbs, one that will determine certain future developments and, politically speaking, shape the lives of Serbs in Kosovo.

“What happened with the detention of these seven honorable and honest individuals is disgraceful, and it is not the only thing Kurti is doing to help Nenad Rasic. What Kurti sees in supporting Rasic is the opportunity to secure yet another seat for himself in the Assembly in Pristina. What Kurti does not understand is that whenever someone tries to intimidate Serbs in this way, the reaction is quite the opposite,” Jevtic said, as quoted by RTV.

He added that this was neither the first nor the only attempt by Albin Kurti to turn Serbs against their own state and against official Belgrade.

“However, the reaction of the Serbian people has always been the same. Through several electoral processes in recent years, Serbs have sent a clear message that they do not want Nenad Rasic and do not want someone who does not represent the Serbian people,” the vice president stressed.

He believes that the arrest of seven directors of Serbian healthcare and educational institutions in Gracanica will only contribute to the formation of a clear position within the Serbian community, which will be expressed through voting on Sunday and will demonstrate that Kurti has not intimidated them.

“On 7 June, we will vote and send a message that these people must be released as soon as possible, as well as all other detained Serbs who are being held in Pristina’s prisons on various fabricated indictments, solely for the purpose of instilling fear among the Serbian people,” Jevtic emphasized.

He underscored that the struggle of Serbs in Kosovo has never been easy and never will be, but that this does not mean they will give up.

“We must not accept it when someone says: ‘You know, Belgrade is to blame for what is happening to you.’ That is exactly what Albin Kurti wants. He wants a Serb-versus-Serb conflict, and that is precisely another battle we are fighting on the ground. For that reason, 7 June is a referendum for us, one that is extremely important. We must say ‘no’ to Albin Kurti by voting for the Serb List, and by voting for number 119 we will clearly state that Albin Kurti will not succeed in his intentions,” Jevtic concluded.
