Serb List parliamentary candidate Srdjan Popovic stressed that Serbs in the elections showed who is the only one capable of defending their interests, while Albanians, in every possible way, want to have their own Serb in the institutions who would carry out what they have planned.

Speaking to Informer TV, Popovic said that the situation in Gracanica ahead of the elections was very serious throughout the campaign and that both the Serb List and the Serbian community were under great pressure.

“They tried to instill fear. They started with blackmail. After that, they continued with the arrests of directors of educational and healthcare institutions. They thought they had achieved the desired effect. But, more than ever before, citizens in Gracanica turned out to vote, and the Serb List received the highest number of votes in its history there, as many as 1,100 more than in the previous elections,” he explained, adding that Rasic's vote total simultaneously decreased by 400.

He said that those who believed they would succeed failed because the people united.

“The citizens realized whom they should trust and who best defends the national interests of the Serbian people, and they also understood that politicians such as Rasic have no place among our people,” Popovic explained.

According to him, Albanians want by every possible means to have their own Serb in the institutions because only in that way can they carry out their plans.

“In these elections, Rasic demonstrated that he does not have the support of the Serbian people and that he has no right to a parliamentary seat based on his results in Serbian areas. Albanians from places such as Malisevo, Junik, Decani, Podujevo, and Pec, where there are no Serbs, voted for him. That only shows that Albanians support his policies. What matters to us is that he has no support among our people. All ten mandates won in Serbian areas show the real situation and who can defend the interests of the Serbian community,” Popovic explained.

Speaking about the election outcome, he said that the results from last year's elections had essentially been repeated.

“We will see the balance of power in the Assembly. Our task is to focus on what is best for us and what is important for our people. Among the Albanians, the situation is chaotic. We know what the government and Albin Kurti think of us,” Popovic said.

He stressed that the Serb List is the bulwark of the Serbian people's survival and emphasized that the party will continue to defend the interests of the Serbian community in Kosovo.
