Creating a New World Order - conquest and domination
Written for Kosovo Online by Zeljko Sajn
In every century, as if by some natural law, the international order receives a new guise, predominantly shaped by a single country possessing the power and will, intellectual and moral strength to mold the entire international order according to its own value system. Alongside this, inevitably, come armed conflicts, which, unfortunately, do not bypass us even in this modern world. Weapons and tactics have changed through history, but the goals have always remained the same: conquest and domination. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism, but the international order created at Yalta after the end of World War II is tumultuously disintegrating, and the outlines of a new world order based on slightly different foundations and principles are emerging.
A novelty in the creation of the new world order will be transparency and clearly defined, unhidden goals. Russia, with President Putin at the helm during the 16th BRICS summit which he chaired, clearly and publicly presented its vision for the development of a new multipolar international order, based on the exploitation of natural resources and the restoration of the UN's authority, which requires reform. All BRICS leaders agreed with this viewpoint.
While the Russians were fighting on two fronts – a wartime one in Ukraine and a peacetime front strengthening relationships within the BRICS Summit, the USA and NATO led the collective West's battle in the neocolonial subjugation of other countries, simultaneously breaking down those with socialist ideologies. However, Biden's administration has been retired, and the fulfillment of promises made by the newly elected US President Donald Trump during his presidential campaign is expected. At the BRICS Summit in Kazan, a step towards an equitable partnership with the USA was offered, introducing new horizons to the world, including space conquest, but most importantly, the hope that peace is attainable.
Both Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump emphasized in their inaugural speeches that their goal is Mars. However, both are aware that to reach such heights in the planetary system, it is necessary to agree on Earth to prepare their path without various conflicts and to use natural resources for achieving these goals in peace, through friendly and fair relations.
The contours of the new world order will be defined within the expected dialogue between these two leaders, and the President of China Xi Jinping will also have his say. The political steps of these three leading administrations prove to be the most significant for the fate of the world, as evidenced by recent phone calls between Xi Jinping and Trump, and Xi Jinping and Putin. This trilateral cooperation through China is not at all surprising, at least for us journalists who follow the political steps of these three administrations. Putin at the 16th BRICS Summit and at the press conference in Moscow on December 19 sent a message to the world that the peoples of these states are not enemies and that he will begin discussions with their leadership on paving the way for a new world order.
Although it was expected that the newly elected US President would hit China hardest, as a competitor in the race for global leadership, Donald Trump deviated from a long-standing American tradition, officially inviting China's leader Xi Jinping to his inauguration, which showed America's willingness to start a new era in relations between these two countries. Xi Jinping responded to this gesture from the new US president with a personal phone call, confirming readiness for dialogue and, at least, reducing historic conflict.
Although some may have been surprised by these video-conference talks between the leaders of China and the leaders of the USA and Russia, they logically fit into the context of major international events and global upheavals resulting from the disintegration of the old architecture of international relations. The contours of the new world order are becoming clearer, and it is also clear that the Beijing‒Washington‒Moscow triangle will become a crucial factor in creating a new world.
As can be seen, Europe is excluded from this context, unless Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who attended Donald Trump's inauguration, accepts the role of the new leader of Europe, dethroning Britain, France, and Germany. If the silence of Russia and China on this matter can be interpreted as approval, then the presidency of Poland, specifically Prime Minister Tusk, would have a different status if he wishes his country to have governance over part of Ukraine.
The USA, with Trump at the helm, will establish different political and economic relations also with Europe, primarily with France and Germany, where the Balkans, including Serbia, belong. Certainly, the world awaits an important summit between Putin and Trump, which along with Xi Jinping will form an inseparable triangle for creating a new multipolar order. The world hopes that the air of peace can be fully breathed, and a step towards this is certainly constructive dialogue at a round table to find compromises that will permanently silence weapons.
