Who is Who - Riho Teras: General from Estonia, "warned" that Serbia would attack Kosovo
The former head of the Estonian Armed Forces will take on the role of the European Parliament's rapporteur for Kosovo. Riho Teras will replace German politician Viola von Cramon in this position, and he became known to the public in Pristina in 2022 when he "warned that Serbia could attack Kosovo."
"The reports from Kosovo are very concerning. Putin's proxy, Serbia, is learning from the big brother and might attack Kosovo. We must remain strong," Teras wrote on the social network X.
In an interview with Bild in 2017, he claimed that Russia was preparing for war against NATO and that during the military exercises "Zapad 2017," Moscow developed plans for a large-scale military campaign.
"It was directed not only against the Baltic countries but against all the countries from the North Sea to the Black Sea. The scope of the exercise exceeded its original framework," the Estonian general said at the time.
Called for Borrell’s resignation and suspension of Hungary’s voting rights
Riho Teras, as a representative of the European People's Party, the largest political group in the EP, sent a letter to all MEPs seeking their support for an initiative to suspend Hungary's voting rights. It was stated at the time that Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán had met with Putin and was acting against the interests of the EU.
The Estonian general also submitted a request for the removal of the former High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell. This request was signed by 73 MEPs, and the letter requesting Borrell's resignation stated that he "remained silent and smiled while Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, at a joint press conference, called the European Union an 'unreliable partner.'"
Was a member of the Estonian Defense League
Born in 1967, in his youth he was conscripted into the Soviet Navy, where he served on the frigate "Zadorni." He studied history at the University of Tartu, during which he became a member of the Estonian Defense League. He joined Johannes Kert in defending radio and television buildings in Tallinn during the 1991 Soviet coup attempt.
