The Director of Posta Srbije (Serbian Post), Zoran Andjelkovic, stated for Kosovo Online that the detention of two employees by the Kosovo Police in North Mitrovica represents a continuation of the persecution of Serbs in Kosovo.

Andjelkovic explained that the employees had been engaged in assisting elderly citizens by delivering pensions to Rudare, thereby sparing them the need to travel from other locations to Merdare.

“They detained and questioned them. We engaged lawyers, and the Office for Kosovo and Metohija was also involved. According to the information I received, they have been released and returned home,” Andjelkovic said.

He added that Albin Kurti has continued a policy of preventing any assistance to Serbs in Kosovo, emphasizing that employees of Posta Srbije are doing everything they can to help people, despite the fact that all branches of the Serbian postal service in Kosovo have been closed by Pristina.

Andjelkovic recalled that today’s incident is not the first of its kind, noting that last week around 20 members of the Kosovo Police entered the home of the director of Posta Srbije in Kosovo to conduct a search on suspicion that weapons were being kept there. According to him, nothing was found during the search, but he pointed out that Pristina is constantly seeking reasons for detentions and property searches.

The Kosovo Police today detained two employees of Posta Srbije in North Mitrovica on suspicion that they were distributing consignments. It should be recalled that Pristina closed all branches of Posta Srbije in Kosovo last year.
